The Story of the Bunk-beds...

Almost 6 months ago, we bought the boys bunk-beds. Several months prior we had moved Zac into Preston's room when transitioning him out of the crib and into a toddler bed. To our amazement- both boys slept better when sharing a room. They went to bed easier at night, slept longer, and when they woke up they played together (allowing us more time to sleep)! It was perfect!

Preston asked for bunk-beds after he spent some time at a friend's house who had bunk-beds. He thought they were the best! After shopping around, we decided to take the plunge.

This is how our evening routine goes...

After bath time, story time & prayer
both boys are tucked in to their beds.

20 minutes later... snuggled in the same bed.
They have slept in the same bed together for months now.

I am starting to think the twin over full option would have been a more practical choice. Oh well, they are adorable together. I am glad they love their beds.

Just One Favorite Part...

The last few weeks have just been whizzing by! I can hardly believe that school is out in 3 1/2 weeks. Much more sobering, Kindergarten Round-up is in 2 1/2 weeks! (Gulp)! Preston asks me every day "How many more days until I go to Kindergarten?" I think he sees it as a right of passage. Nonetheless, I am really going to miss him when he is gone all day, everyday. Although in all honestly, I am so looking forward to the one-on-one time I will get with Zac.

We are all preparing for summer to arrive. Preston is signed up for summer T-Ball. Hopefully this will go better then soccer did. (For those who don't remember- P hated soccer and used to cry at the games. Poor little monster was miserable!) I have been reluctant to try new sports because of our past experience, but he is genuinely excited. We also signed up for VBS! This Preston is supppppppppper excited for! He loves church and God and most of all- Bible School! I am volunteering again as a crew leader this year. It was so much fun last year! I am really looking forward to it.

Lately, we have been keeping busy. Preston is still in school and taking swim lessons. We signed him up for Gymnastics through Aerials Gymnastics. He has some friends in the class and seems to be enjoying all the jumping around and flips he gets to do without being yelled at :) This week we ventured up to Pump It Up in South Denver for some playtime. We went with some friends and both boys had a great time. Pump It Up is such a neat place filled with Inflatables of all sizes and shapes. I wish we still had one in Springs. On Saturday, we went to Mr. Biggs for some gaming, go-carting, laser tag & adventurous fun. Again, we went with friends and both boys had a blast!

As you can imagine, he loved the Go-Carts!

I was worried he would get scared but he just kept yelling
"Faster Mommy!"

Every night when it's time for bed, I ask Preston about his day. Even though I spend all day with him- I love getting his feedback. I always ask him, "What was your favorite part?" He gives different answers, some surprising, some I already knew were coming :) Lately, he has paused and then said. "Just one favorite Mommy?" Then he lists several things we experienced during the day. It warms my heart to hear him. He is such a sweet little boy! And it's like getting an A+ for me as a Mom :)

Happy Easter!

I love this time of year! The weather is warmer, the days are longer, Spring is in the air!  Easter is one of my favorite holidays. I love dying eggs and making Easter baskets for the boys. Each year it seems to get better & better!

It is awesome to hear Preston "explain" what Easter is about (in his own little abbreviated story) followed by a barrage of questions. It's too cute! I also really love how much he loves Jesus and loves learning about Him. I can't wait for Zac to be the same in a few years.

Here is our Easter 2012...

 The hunt was on!!
(Preston was off getting eggs. No way was he pausing to take a picture!)

Here we are after the hunt. The extra two kids are our friends Elix & Vignon.
The boys think they are cousins- how cute is that!

Zac and I posing for quick picture by the jumbo basket.
(Preston was breaking into eggs and eating candy. Again, not pausing for a pic.)

Great fun!!

What time is it.... time to dye some eggs!

My proud little man. Whew- this has gotten easier as he has gotten older.
Zac was off playing with big brother Reggie (Praise God!!)
Otherwise, I'm not so sure how it would have turned out :)

I wanted a picture of the whole family together at brunch, but not as easy as it would seem. Oh well, next year!

Celebrating Easter... somewhat early

This last weekend, the boys and I, and the pups, traveled to Berthoud to spend time with the family. The boys love love love going to "Uma & Papa's house!" They get to run around on their land, play with the animals, and climb trees. (Although I'm sure M&M's for breakfast & cupcakes for lunch is also on the list!) We left Friday just after lunch. On the way up we stopped at my former horse trainer's barn, where my sister works. Turns out my sister had already gone for the day. It all worked out though, the boys were able to see a bunch of horses, pet them & feed them some hay. It was great catching up with my childhood horse trainer, Nancy. Thanks Nancy for showing the little guys around! I wish I had snapped some pictures of our visit. Guess I was too busy chatting, strange I know :)

We met up with Great Grandma, Great Grandpa, Cousin Richie, Uncle Jamey, Auntie Edelyn & Cousin Jamison (Jamish as Zac says) for dinner. Three little guys always have a great time together.

Isn't he cute :)

We were able to spend some time shopping Saturday in Loveland. It has been a while since I have been to the outlets up there. It was fun! And on Sunday we had "Easter Dinner" at my parent house. The whole family came over to celebrate. We decided to get together to celebrate Easter a week early because Uncle Jamey, Auntie Edelyn and Jameson are traveling to the Philippines this week and will be gone for the next 2 1/2 weeks. The boys each got an Easter basket filled with goodies & candy. (Another occasion where I was chatting instead of taking pics!) But take my word for it, it was cute :)

Here are the little guys by Uma's tree.
They had fun trying to climb it and also breaking sticks.
Preston told me he wishes our yard was just as big!

Next weekend, for Easter, we plan on staying local. I want to take the boys to an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday and then church on Sunday. For now, we are laying low, enjoying our snow day together and loving life!

More adventures to come....
